Factory Website Photos: Verify Sources, Scenes and Captions

Tuohai editorial guide · Reviewed and published October 5, 2026. The worksheets are blank working templates, not client results.

Factory website photos can be sharp yet misleading. Whose workshop is it? When was the photograph taken? Is the pictured product still sold? Without answers, a genuine photo can accompany an inaccurate capability claim.

A photo can show visible details. It cannot independently establish capacity, certification or a customer relationship. Check the source and scene before choosing its page and caption. This is a content-governance guide, not image authentication or copyright legal advice.

Confirm the Source and Publication Conditions

Separate in-house photography, commissioned work, customer-supplied images, stock assets and generated or illustrative images. Their origins affect what they can support.

For photographs taken by factory employees, record the photographer, date, location and original file. The responsible team should confirm what may be public. A photo sent by a customer to a salesperson is not automatically approved for a website case study.

Stock and generated visuals may serve an illustrative purpose when readers can recognise that purpose. Their equipment, people and buildings are not evidence of the factory's assets. Hold unknown-source images for confirmation rather than using them to fill a page.

IPTC's Photo Metadata Standard introduction describes creation information, pictured subjects, locations and rights fields. Borrowing those fields can organise records, but metadata is neither permission nor proof of authenticity. Publication conditions still require confirmation.

Decide What the Photo Can Actually Support

Keep descriptions close to visible facts. After confirmation, an equipment photograph may describe its location or the pictured activity. Equipment counts alone do not establish monthly output, machining accuracy, operating time or a quality system.

In a hypothetical example, a person checks a component with a measuring tool. A confirmed caption can describe that inspection scene. “Every item receives full inspection” needs additional process evidence. This example is not a client result.

Separate samples, trial production and regular production. A sample may show appearance or components without proving stable production capability. An old machine or discontinued product may no longer belong on a current capability page.

Write the intended claim first, then ask whether the photo and supporting records establish it. Narrow unsupported wording or use a clearly identified illustration. “Real photo” is not a blanket guarantee of every nearby business statement.

Give Captions and Alt Text Different Jobs

A caption explains source, time, scene and relevant limits. Alt text describes the image in its page context for people who cannot see it. Do not squeeze the entire caption into the alt attribute.

Google Images guidance recommends relevant surrounding text and useful, contextual alt text rather than keyword stuffing. Describe the pictured object instead of repeating “factory,” “supplier” and “manufacturer.”

Only add confirmed dates, model names and locations. Removing a customer's logo does not establish approval to publish the scene.

Tuohai's industry page examples (Chinese) identify public homepage screenshots and distinguish them from client results or customer relationships. That editorial distinction is useful: page observations, factory photographs and project evidence have different roles. Public promotional statements must not become your own verified facts.

Keep a Record for Each Photo

This is an original blank template, not a client result or an approved image library. Every actual entry remains blank.

The supported sentence matters. A confirmed building photograph on an About page may describe a location. On a delivery case study, readers may infer a particular customer project. Recheck the evidence relationship whenever placement changes.

Ask the supplier to clarify missing creation information. Unknown details do not automatically make a photo false, but they may prevent its use as important capability evidence. Editors should record uncertainty, not authenticate images by appearance.

Recheck the Context After Cropping or Replacement

Cropping may remove trial-production labels or other context. Masking dates and model details can also make a picture harder to connect with its caption.

Keep originals linked to website copies. After compression, cropping or redaction, check whether the image still supports the same statement. Do not add equipment, change instrument readings or present generated additions as photographed facts. Refer privacy and publication restrictions to responsible people.

When replacing an image, check the surrounding text, caption, alt text and summary together. A new product photograph with the previous product's caption is a content error, even when both images are genuine.

More photos or metadata do not guarantee indexing or AI recommendations. Review source, wording and checkable facts for consistency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we remove a watermark and use someone else's photo?

Watermark removal does not confirm ownership or permission. Check the source and approved use, and never describe an external scene as your factory. Refer legal questions to the appropriate professional.

Can a generated workshop image replace a real photo?

Not as evidence of actual premises, equipment or capacity. An illustration must be recognisable as such. Evidence-led pages need verified real material.

Should all old photos be removed?

Check their purpose. Historical scenes may remain with dates and context. Update or withdraw images that no longer support current capability statements.

Conclusion: Improve the Explanation Before Adding More Images

Start with priority pages. Find originals, confirm sources and scenes, define supported claims, approve publication scope, then write captions and alt text. Remove unexplained photos from important evidence positions.

Request a free complete manual audit (Chinese). A complete manual audit is free; scope and scheduling are agreed separately. It does not replace copyright, technical or certification assessments, or guarantee indexing, rankings or AI recommendations.
